Currently all guests staying at a Walt Disney World resort are receiving a MagicBand. Signing up to use FastPass+ works differently depending if you have an active MagicBand or not. Magic Kingdom is set to stop using the FastPass machines and start offering FastPass+ only starting next Tuesday, Jan. Disney’s Animal Kingdom is running the “test” now and the FastPass machines aren’t available.

Until MyMagic+ is officially rolled out, Disney is calling all aspects of the new system “testing”. The move to FastPass+ from the legacy, or old FastPass machines, was announced as a test for Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom, but the old FastPass machines are not expected to be put back into action, and will eventually be removed from all of Walt Disney World parks as MyMagic+ is rolled out. Disney has stopped offering paper FastPasses at Animal Kingdom, forcing all guests to book FastPass+ if they want to skip the lines, and now they’re set to expand the “test” to the most visited theme park in the world, Magic Kingdom.
